DWCSJ Competes in the First-Ever Maynila Asian Parliamentary Debate Tournament

In a groundbreaking event, Divine Word College of San Jose (DWCSJ) took part in the inaugural Maynila Asian Parliamentary debate tournament held by the Maynila Parliamentary Organizational Committee on April 13 - 14, conducted virtually through Discord.

The Senior High School debaters, including Wil Azleigh Padua, Ruzkiel James Bustillos, and Ace Harvee Ulayao, showcased their skills among 51 institutions spanning seven Asian countries, totaling 80 participating teams and over 270 participants.

After engaging in intense exchanges of arguments and rebuttals, DWCSJ debaters advanced to the fourth preliminary round, securing a victory over the University of Mindanao while defending the significance of Lipstick Feminism.

DWCSJ High School demonstrated commendable performance, ranking 25th in the high school category and 69th overall among 86 teams. Overall, their speakers achieved rankings ranging from 75th to 83rd, with Ruzkiel Bustillos standing out as the 21st best reply speaker. Notably, their journey culminated in a remarkable 2nd place finish in Round 4, earning them the title of the 2nd highest reply speaker and team.
