Grade 10 students of Divine Word College of San Jose came together for a day of reflection, embracing themes of mental health awareness and forgiveness during their recent recollection held on April 20, 2024 at Hillside Function Hall, Magsaysay, Occidental Mindoro.

The day began with sessions focusing on mental health awareness, where students engaged in discussions and activities aimed at fostering understanding and empathy towards mental health issues. Facilitators provided insights into coping mechanisms, stress management techniques, and the importance of seeking support when needed. Students were encouraged to open up about their own struggles and experiences, creating a supportive and inclusive atmosphere.

In the second part of the recollection, the theme shifted towards forgiveness, emphasizing the power of letting go and moving forward. Through guided exercises, students explored the concept of forgiveness, both towards others and themselves. Stories of redemption and reconciliation served as inspiration, highlighting the transformative effects of forgiveness on personal growth and relationships.

As the day drew to a close, students had the opportunity to participate in confession, symbolizing a commitment to seeking forgiveness and spiritual renewal. The recollection culminated in a Holy Mass, where students reflected on the day's teachings and received blessings for their journey ahead.

"This recollection provided a space for the students to delve into important topics like mental health and forgiveness, which are often overlooked in our daily lives," shared one of the advisers of Grade 10. "It's reassuring to know that we have a supportive community where they can openly discuss these issues and work towards healing and growth together."

The event not only fostered a deeper sense of empathy and understanding among the students but also reinforced the school's commitment to holistic education, nurturing the spiritual, emotional, and mental well-being of its students.

As the Divine Word College of San Jose continues to prioritize the holistic development of its students, events like these serve as reminders of the importance of addressing mental health and fostering a culture of forgiveness and compassion within the school community.
