Divine Word College of San Jose marks the 78th year of being a Catholic Chrisitan Institution as it opens the Academic Year 2023-2024. On this day too is the Investiture of the newly elected President of the school, Fr. Felino "Jun" B. Javines, Jr., SVD, DM, at the Fr. McSherry Gymnasium, August 11.

Bishop Pablito M. Tagura, SVD, DD, the Apostolic Vicar of San Jose, Occidental Mindoro, presided the annual opening mass co-celebrated with other SVD missionaries including Fr. Conrado A. Alvarez, SVD, the School Chaplain. The mass was attended by the students from all levels, including the teaching and non-teaching personnels.

"The greatest one of us is the servant of all," Bishop Tagura mentioned this in his homily. He also reminded us on what the Lord has said, "I did not come to be served but to serve." He added that the model of leadership is Service.

After his homily, Fr. Thaddeus J. Teaño, SVD, the District Superior, led the Investiture of Fr. Javines as the 14th President of DWCSJ. Fr. Javines succeeded Fr. Renato A. Tampol, SVD, who served as president from 2017 until 2023.
