RESEARCH POLICY AND GUIDELINES

The Divine Word College of San Jose promotes research as one of its thrust for sustainability. Thus, it encourages all co-missionaries, including students, to conduct research as guided by the following:

I. GENERAL POLICY AND GUIDELINE

1. The Research Office will provide the research agenda which are align with the institutional and local development. They are classified as Institutional Priorities for S.Y. 2018-2020, National Priorities, and Basic Education Priorities.
2. Research funding may come from the institution and/or partner agencies. For Institutional Funding, the amount of fund will depend on the scope and weight of the research topic, which is to be determined and recommended for approval by the Research Director. For research to be funded by partner agency, it will be based on the agreement of both parties.
3. Faculty and personnel may conduct research as part and/or addition to their workload.
4. Research proposals, which are endorsed by the immediate head, are to be submitted to the Research Director for recommendation to the President.
5. Approved research proposals are to be finished within the specified time frame.
6. Research outputs will be presented to forum and conferences.
7. Other instances which emerge that are not stated in this policy will be

II. RESEARCH AS FUNDED BY THE INSTITUTION AND/OR PARTNER AGENCIES

1. A research proposal will be submitted to the Research Director for review, and recommendation for approval to the President.
2. The release of fund for an approved institutional research is staggered.
3. An agreement with partner agencies will be settled first.

III. RESEARCH AS PART OF WORKLOAD

1. A co-missionary may conduct research as part of his/her workload.
2. A research proposal, which is endorsed by the immediate head, is to be submitted to the Research Director, and to be approved by the President.
3. The research topic is aligned with the Research Agenda.
4. A research project has an equivalent of one teaching load, which will commence for one semester.
5. A research project may have one or more number of researchers, to be determined by the Research Director, and approved by the President.
6. The research output needs to be delivered within the specified timeframe.
7. The research output is of quality that it can be presented to forum and paper conferences.

IV. RESEARCH AS COURSE REQUIREMENT

1. All students who are under Research subject need to select a research topic which is in-line with the Research Agenda.
2. The adviser needs to coordinate concerns regarding the progress of students' research with the Research Director.
3. Copy of the research output is to be submitted to the Research Office.
4. The research output is of quality that it can be presented to forum and paper conferences.

V. RESEARCH FORMAT AND WRITING STYLE

American Psychological Association (APA) is the format adapted by the Divine Word College of San Jose.
