Divine Word College of San Jose held its face-to-face opening of classes, after almost three years of homeschooling, for the academic year 2022-2023 last 16th of August 2022.

The students were welcomed by a band. Dr. Jason S. Valera, the Basic Education Principal, accompanied by the Academic Coordinators and other teachers from different departments gave yellow and green balloons to every student entering the school.

Three dance mobs were performed by the Cultural Dance Group, two in front of the gymnasium and one in the school canteen. The school's promotional video was played, showcasing all the features that DWCSJ has to offer.

An institutional celebration was held at the Fr. McSherry Gymnasium at 9:00 am on August 16. Rev. Fr. Renato A. Tampol, SVD, Ph.D., the school president, presided over the mass concelebrated by other SVD Priests and Brothers. From the CDC Department to the College Department, all were one in prayer and the Holy Spirit.

After the mass, the students were told to return to their specific classrooms. Both online and face-to-face subject and policy orientations were held throughout the week.

A Basic Education Department Orientation was held on the afternoon of August 16 via Zoom. The orientation for the Junior High School Department was held last August 17 at the school's gymnasium. The teachers explained all the policies of the school, such as the policy for the grading system, giving of honors, proper wearing of school uniforms, and much more. The School Calendar of Activities for this academic year was also presented.

The first week of classes was wrapped with a Mental Health Webinar entitled "Aftermath of COVID-19: Ways to take care of your Mental Health" that was organized by the Guidance Office.
