College Admission and Retention Policies

Admission Requirements

The basic requirement for eligibility for admission to Divine Word College of San Jose collegiate program shall be graduation from a secondary level program recognized by the Department of Education.

In the selection of students, first consideration is given to the quality of records presented and good moral character. The school has the right to reject any applicant who does not meet the qualifications necessary for his success as a member of the Divine Word College of San Jose community.

All students are required to be enrolled prior to the opening of classes. An enrolled student is one who has paid the necessary tuition and other fees, has been issued an enrollment slip and has officially registered. A student shall be admitted fir enrollment upon presentation of the following:

  1. Form 138 (Report Card) for high school graduates applying for college entrance for the first time.
  2. Certificate of Transfer Credentials and Certificate of Good Moral Character from the last school attended for college students transfering from other schools.
  3. Original and Recent Copy of Birth Certificate and a xerox copy of it.
  4. National College Assessment Examinee (NCAE) Result.

Special students are those who are not entitled to receive the credits for the work they desire to take because they do not satisfy the requirements for admission to the course or subjects. These students should sign an agreement in which they waive the right to receive and to demand credits for the work done.

Bachelor of Science in Accountancy(BSA)

  • Admission. For incoming freshmen, the high school general average should be at least, 80%.
  • Tranferees and those students who are going to shift to BSA program should have a general weighed average of, at least, 80% in the previous semester.
  • Retention.Students enrolled in the aforementioned program should maintain a general weighed average of, at least, 80%. Those who will not reach the said grade criterion shall be advised to shift to other non-board courses at the DWCSJ.

Teachers Education Department (BEED, BSED)

  • Student should get general average of 80% with no grade below 80% in his/her major field of study or area of concentration on the first semester.
  • The student who did not obtain the required grade during the first semester is given one semester to improve his/her grades.
  • Those who fail to improve their grades in the second semester shall be advised to shift to another program.
  • The Guidance Offive shall give personality tests and interview the incoming first year to asess the fitness of the students to become teachers.
  • The Guidance Counselor and the TED Chairman shall consider the result of the test in the final evaluation of the students.

Bachelor of Science in Hotel and Restaurant Management (BSHRM) and Bachelor of Science in Tourism (BST)

Incoming freshmen must pass the physical examination to be conducted by the school physician.

Those with tattoo and grossly pierced earlobes will not be accepted for enrollment.

Incoming sophomore and fourth year students who will have their practicum in Manila must pass the HEPA B test to be conducted bu the accredited clinic of the DWCSJ.
