DWCSJ Junior High School Department Hosts Spectacular 89th National Book Week and English Week Celebration

In a spectacle of literary brilliance, the Divine Word College of San Jose Junior High School Department unfolded a magnificent celebration of the 89th National Book Week and English Week on December 4-5, 2023, under the resonant theme: "Read, Reread, Relive!"

The inaugural day witnessed a tapestry of creativity with contests spanning poster-making, essay-writing, and poetry creation. As the sun dipped below the horizon, the Basic Education Library became the stage for announcing and honoring the adept winners.

As dawn broke on the subsequent day, the ambiance echoed with eloquence and intellect as impromptu speaking, spelling bee, book character costume contest, and literary trivia graced the proceedings. The hallowed halls of knowledge bore witness to the literary trivia and spelling bee, orchestrated in a vacant classroom, while the AVR resonated with the articulate charm of the impromptu speaking contest.

Stealing the limelight was the book character costume competition, held in the opulent function room. Contestants paraded their ingenuity across the campus, weaving through the senior high school building to the Arnoldus Building, concluding their majestic showcase back at the function room. A dazzling array of sashes, certificates, and coveted cash prizes adorned the victors, with the pinnacle two seizing the glory of bringing home a gleaming trophy.

Culminating the grand spectacle, the last day unfolded with Junior High School students adorned in a vibrant array of book/movie character costumes. Six outstanding students, handpicked by the discerning eyes of teachers, were spotlighted for their exceptional attire. The crescendo of the celebration reached its zenith with the afternoon awarding ceremony at the Basic Education Library, bestowing accolades upon the triumphant participants of the diverse contests.
