DWCSJ's Young Leaders of Tomorrow

Ten Outstanding Students img

The Divine Word College of San Jose (DWCSJ) - For 73 years as an Educational Institution, recognized its very first 10 Outstanding Students from different departments.

For the first time in history of the school, 10 students of the DWCSJ were named as Outstanding Students 2018. Through the collective efforts of the present administration, especially with the willpower of the new President, Rev. Fr. Renato A. Tampol, this event created a big change to the school, particularly with the students - who strive harder to develop themselves holistically to become model students of the institution.

There were a total of 24 nominees. The set of nominees was composed of 6 Grade School pupils, 6 Junior High School, 6 Senior High School and 6 College students. All nominees have gone through rigorous preliminary rounds of selection based on a set of comprehensive assessment criteria. Two (2) nominees from both Grade School and Senior High School Departments were eliminated based on the randomly distributed evaluation of leadership qualities making the final number of 20 nominees only. Apart from an illustrious track record of academic and non-academic achievements, the administration looked for qualities of an active learner such as Maturity, Spirituality and Contributions to the School through one-on-one interviews and a panel interview. The judges also looked for signs of a responsible student such as positive values, commitment and most important, leadership qualities. In addition to all these, they looked for attributes of a capable leader such as vision, confidence and collaborative skills.

Regardless of their talents and interests in life, the selected ones have something in common - they are the role models of younger generation, and above all, they are the school's young leaders of tomorrow.

On the night of February 9, 2018, these deserving students were given of plaques of recognition and medals.

These students may leave the school at the right time, but the responsibility and honor they received will be forever cherished and valued. They will be always thankful to the people who helped them, their school who honed them and of course, to God who always guide their path. They will continue to inspire other students, to become good examples and to extend their hands to the people who need their help the most. Those are the principles of being outstanding among others.
