Divinians showed what they were made of as they powered their way into first runner up at the recently concluded Inter-Catholic Schools Sports and Academic Meet held at West Mindoro Academy, Mamburao last November 5-11, 2017.

Back-to-back champions Colegio de San Sebastian from Sablayan came home with the trophy, while Stella Maris School of Lubang placed second runner up, followed by San Rafael High School of Abra de Ilog at third runner up, and trailed by Holy Family Academy of Central, San Jose and West Mindoro Academy at fifth and sixth place, respectively.

Divine Word College of San Jose advanced from second runner up in last year's ICSSAM to first runner up this year, fueled by the determination and hard work of the athletes and their coaches' leadership and guidance, along with the support of the administration.

For the sports competitions, DWCSJ's Volleyball Girls came away with the championship. The same can be said for the Softball Team as they garnered the gold medal; both are back-to-back champions.DWCSJ also took pride in the Badminton Singles-Girls and 100 Meter Dash-Boys, winning first place for both.

First runner up events are Sepak Takraw, Badminton Singles-Boys, Table Tennis Singles-Boys and Girls, Table Tennis Doubles-Boys and Girls, Chess Boys and Girls, 800 Meter Run Girls, 1500 Meter Run Boys, 4x400 Meter Relay, and High Jump Boys. Second runner up events include Basketball, Badminton Mixed, 200 Meter Run Boys, Shot-Put Boys and Girls, Discuss Throw Girls, Javelin Throw Boys, Long Jump Boys, High Jump Girls, and Triple Jump Girls.

As part of the Cultural Night celebration, DWCSJ grabbed the spotlight in the Dance Sport competition as they won the top spot.

Divinians also excelled academically as they brought home the gold medal in both Science & Technology and Mathematics Quiz. They also won third place in the Spelling Quiz.

Vince Magnaye and Aljelica Aguilar of DWCSJ were both crowned as Mr. and Ms. ICSSAM 2017.

The athletes, together with their respective coaches are now gearing up for the upcoming Regional Private Schools Athletics Association (PRISAA) Meet.
