This socio-civic activity which is being held every year was spearheaded by the Municipal Social Welfare and Development Office (MSWDO), in coordination with the Local Government Units (LGU), primarily the Office of the Municipal Mayor, who is the Honorary Chairman of Alay Lakad and Non-Governmental Office (NGO) of the municipality of San Jose.
This year's Alay Lakad was anchored on the theme, "Lakad Bayan para sa Kapayapaan," and the DWCSJ was assigned as the lead school for this year's activity. Mr. Rufino R. Hernandez, OSA Director of Divine Word College of San Jose, College Department, was officially designated by the school President, Rev. Fr. Glenn Paul M. Gomez, SVD to act on his behalf as the Over-All Chairman of Alay Lakad 2013.
As usual, this activity was participated in by the different sectors of the community, be it public or private, schools, offices, agencies, groups and associations.
Alay Lakad secretariat recorded more than 137 groups of delegations that walked around the town. The activity started at exactly 6:15 a.m. right after the flag raising ceremony at 6:00 a.m .
Afterwards, a program took place at the San Jose Municipal Town Plaza at 9:00 a.m. with invited guests from the Philippine Congress, Hon. Josephine "Nene" Ramirez Sato, together with the provincial governor, Hon. Mario Gene Mendiola, Hon. Romulo "Muloy" Festin, Municipal Mayor of San Jose, Vice Mayor and Presiding Officer of Sangguniang bayan of San Jose, Hon. Atty. Rey Ladaga, Members of Sangguniang Panlalawigan and Sangguniang Bayan were also present.
Donations for the Alay Lakad 2013 are intended for the construction of a public library with computers and for the youth's scholarship program.
Among the DWCSJ administrators who walked for a cause were Rev. Fr. Renato A. Tampol, SVD, Vice President for Finance and Human Resource Director, together with Dr. Luis I. Gante Jr., Vice President for Academic Affairs and Dean of Graduate School, Bro./Dr. Yosep Undung, SVD, Research and Planning Director, Ms. Glorieta O. Mendoza, High School Principal and Miss Florenda G. Francisco, CDC/Grade School Principal.
Leading the DWCSJ delegation was the DWCSJ High School Lyre Band with the school's muse and escort. Intermission numbers were rendered by the DWCSJ pupils and college students during the program.
Highlighting the Alay Lakad Program was the Search for Mr.&Ms. Alay Lakad 2013. Mr. King Angelo C. Amrad, a 3rd Year BSHRM student was the 1st Runner-Up, Mr. Alay Lakad 2013, while Miss Janine L. Ortilla, a 4th Year BSED student, bagged the title, Miss Alay Lakad 2013.
